Need help- undercoating removal
I have a 1972 monte carlo that has what appears to be a thick layer of rubberized undercoating. I would like to remove it as I would like to know if there is any rust underneath of it. Does anyone know of anything that would remove it? I don't think that it will be an easy job working underneath of the car but a strong stripping agent would be nice. thanks for any help

We used an aircraft stripper by Klean-Strip to strip down an intercooler. The stuff works well but it is some really nasty crap. Don't let this stuff go down a storm sewer cause I'm sure the EPA would be all over it.... or you.

I've used a heat gun and paint scraper to get it off. It's one of those jobs you don't ever want to do again. Once you get most of it off, laquer thinner and lots of rags will wipe off the remaining residue.

WD 40 will make it soft so it can be scraped off. Jeff
