    Where to get u-bolts

I am flipping my front axle to ride on top of the springs. Where can I get custom u-bolts to put it all together. Thanks,
    CHAZ

Chaz: I'm glad you are asking questions, because you don't simply "flip" a front axle. It is made to work in a certain position, and you are not going to have proper camber, etc if you start turning it upside down.

Post some pictures of what you've got, we need to look at this before you get into some dangerous situation. I know you are trying, and that is good.

I guess flip is not the right term. I am putting the axle on top of the springs instead of under it. I am going to weld a plate on the bottom of the axle which will now sit on top of the springs. Then I will use a ubolt long enough to go from the bottom of the springs, through the plate I have just installed, and then through the original spring mounting pad on the axle and bolt it there. I thought I would put a set of bolts between the two pads also to secure the bottom pad first before tightening the top ones. I will end up needing about an 8" u bolt to tie it all together.
    Thanks,
    CHAZ

Ok, that's better. Any truck spring shop in your area can usually fix you up. They also modify springs pretty inexpensively, too.

I agree - I just had a 1/2dia x 9"Leg with a 4 1/4 opening made up locally in Albany, NY for a driveshaft loop for less than $7.00 including HD nuts and washers.
