The huge wheels seem to be the rage right now. However, the wrong choice can really screw up the balance of a car. A car as classic as yours doesn't need much on the outside. It's a classic muscle car style. There were only 1240 of those guys made, so think it through.

I'm not sure why you couldn't find a manifold. Edelbrock PN 2750 Performer intake will adapt a 40bbl carb to your 2-bbl heads. Check the following page - 4th paragraph down. Couple with that with a 600 CFM performer carb, and you have the intake taken care of. However, you should also look at a good dual exhaust system. Summit has a good selection of ring/pinion gears for the rear axle also. You just have to find out what rear end you have.

    Man . . . I need a 48" plasma wide screen to read this post. . .

For some reason, I'm not viewing your replies on the thread. I had noticed that you guys were the last to post and had to click on 'view all posts by' (you guys. I appreciate the comments about the wheels. Believe me, those are 18" Mizanti wheels though. I must say that I like the Cragar look. Perhaps I can get some young dude on here to trade? Something I will definitely consider. Thanks for the link(s) for the parts. I have already told Don, but BTW, the Cougar has 2.73 gears. I've got to ask again, will I have to regap my plugs when I install the Pertronix iginition and Flamethrower coil? Thanks again for guidance and your honest comments. Regards,

    Wyatt

Denny had the same thoughts as me, either Cragar SS or American 5 spoke classics would look great on this car. The wheels are always the soul of a car and define the overall look. The wheels you have now are saying 2006 hip hop, and just look out of place on such a fine, classic car.

As for the plug gap. Yeah, probably you will want to regap to maybe 45 or 50 thousanths. But to be sure, give pertronix a yell at the website below.

Thanks for taking our criticism so well. Not trying to be cruel or anything, just my honest opinion.

That would explain as to why I've had all the teenagers around town hollering at me talking about "them wheels". I agree with your opinions about which look better on the car. Just glad you convinced me before the upcoming car show Labor Day weekend. The 14's and the original wire wheel covers are going back on in the next few days. Next project will be the Pertronix. I will keep you posted if you want. Thanks again. Regards,

    AGREE with Don
I AM an OF - and quite frankly, the 18 - 20" are not the right wheels for a nice ride like this. I'm not going to say where they belong - as my company trained me in diversity.

15/16" Crager 5 spoke, American Torque Thrusts or similar plus a bit bigger tire to fill in the wheel well gaps will spell class.

As far as posting a picture, you need a program that will let you size the photos - usually 1.5x3 (more or less), then we can click on it to look at it full size

    Howdy,
like I said yesterday, I agree with you guys and the 18" are coming off. When I bought the car, the dude threw these in with the deal and I've had them on/off now on again. I'm an OF also. didn't really care for the bling bling of the big wheels but, after just discoverering the show Overhauling about a month ago I thought, why not put them back on and see. Seems like all of the classic muscle cars redone by Foose on the show, they always put 18"-20" wheels on those classics. Why is that? I mean, I've seen some of his creations selling for multi bucks (no kids buying those things) and they all have those huge wheels on them. I would venture to say that tires and wheels are one of the most simple things to change?? SO, I guess I was trying to change my mind to adjust to the latest craze and all I had to do was write a couple of posts here to confirm that there's nothing wrong with what I was used to seeing back in the 60's & 70's. Regards,

    Wyatt
