Fuel line help
I am adding duel 97s on a 51 merc and am putting an electric fuel pump by the tank.would it be ok for me to splice into the fuel gauge sensor wire or do i have to run a wire up to the ignition?

NO NO NO!!!!!You need a switched relay or.... you will burn!!!
LOw voltage kills pumps and when u run a wire that long thru a switch,well things get hot in a hurry!!Its also a good idea to put in a oil saftey switch.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

As was stated above Don't do thatIt wouldn't work anyway. Run a seperate lead thru a relay off a switched fused source(ignition switch)

And remember 97's don't like much fuel pressure at idle or they will fluid.
Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
