adding ac
I submitted a thread earlier about adding ac to a gto. How about a Roadrunner, 1969? Anyone performed this setup? IS it possible? Thanks..I found a 1969 roadrunner I might purchase...but no ac.

In my opinion, the best way to go is with an aftermarket system from someone like Vintage Air, Hot Rod Air or Southern Air. You will get a modern AC system that is much more up to date than the systems from 40 years ago. Some of the companies even have retrofit systems that look stock inside the car.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I agree with Pat on this IF you wish to go with an aftermarket system.
From first hand experence the Chrysler systems from the late 60's were actually pretty good however. They do loose a lot of effency when they are converted to R134 however. I have had good luck using the drop in R12 replacements and as long as they are available I don't see me doing anymore 134 conversions.
In the case of a Road Runner which have become relatively high dollar cars from strictly a value standpoint it would be best to stay with an OE system. These should be readly available and not all that pricey if you can find an appropriate donner car. Any of the 69 (and 68) Satelites to include wagons with factory air should prove a good doner.

thanks..I was looking to get the gtx or roadrunner as a somewhat daily driver. I don't plan on buying it and parking the car. I want to drive it and here in the south, ac is a must. Thanks for the info guys.
