Bolt pattern on 28 Chevy wire 6 lug wheels
I have a 28 chevy Pickup that has some funky stock wheels off some truck or another on it and it has a 5 lug rear end and a six lug front end.
A friend of mine said the original pickups had a 6 lug 17 inch wire wheel and that he had a set of those wheels he would sell me cheap.
He also said he ran into the same problem once and that the 6 lug rear ends out of Toyotas and isuzu's are the same bolt pattern as the 6 lug 28 chevy.
I looked at an isuzu pickup in a parking lot today and it did have six lugs and even though the guy thought I was odd let me measure it.
The axle width was dead on and the springs were one inch shorter and the bolt pattern seemed to be the same.
Is this possible?
I have no moral problem putting an isuzu rear end under my truck if it allows me to use the original wire wheels.
Has anyone else heard of this.
I neasured a Toyota as well and while the lug bolt pattern seemed the same as the Isuzu the axle was 2 inches wider.

all 6 lugs are the same from what I'm told, as are 8 lug. I know for fact jeep 6 lugs are the same as chevy 6 lug, putting the aluminum jeep rims on a '67-'72 Chevy/ GMC 4X4 w 6 lug looks pretty trick. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Not all 6 lugs are the same but most of them are. The 28 wheels should fit the isuzu rear greatwww.rallyamerica.com

IMHO i would check out toyota rears in trucks or early supras (supras are the best) and the truck rears are the same bolt patten as a chevy truck. we used them in race cars so gears are readily avalible, and they are set up like a 9" so you can change gears quickly.. they are also said to be as strong as a 3/4 ton truck rear, so you can really beat on them..

I am missing something here, I agree with most of the 6 bolt pattern wheels being the same, chev, toyo. Izu. what puzzles me is that the old chev rear ends are closed drive, the rear ends you are trying to put in are they open or closed drive? or are you not running the orginal transmission? just my 2 cent worth!!

I measured both an isuzu truck and a Toyota truck and the Isuzu is two inches narrower and is an exact fit so I went to the salvage yard and cut it out yesterday.
The wheels fit perfect and I got good juice brakes,
The front end is original and has mechanical brakes,
I've got em squirted with liquid wrench andf am deciding what to do with these

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
