body mounts?
on my 56 dodge pu, ive got the cab and front end sitting on the fame, ive got the holes drilled for the body mounts and bolts in them... i was wondering if i need to use rubber mounts or not... i dont really want to because that would mean the truck will sit an 1" higher or so.. i even thought about making thin mounts for example the sidewall out of a tire cut into thin discs.. but if i can get away with nothing then so be it..
Thanks

Yeah, you really should have some rubber in there. My Kid found some neat doughnuts at a 4 x 4 shop, and they are cheap, like $2 each. Have a neat hole in the center for a bolt, and are about 2 inches in diameter. I think 3/4 inch thick.
If you don't you will regret it later with squeeking and harshness to the ride.

Some 1/8 thick washers and believe it or not ,you can use a hack saw ,sawzall etc... to cut the rubber thinner. I cut the standard mount down to a little under 1/2 .I only got 3/4 of a inch or so drop, but it cost nothing extra. The main thing is some sort of soft pliable long lasting material to keep the squeeking down and provide body to frame clearance so no contact is made when a uneven surface is driven on. good luckIts gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

thank you shawnlee28
ill see what i can come up with.. a friend of mine has a 59 chevy pu on a s10 chassis, and he said he mounted the front of the cab with nothing and he used 1" wood blocks on the rear (to give it a raked look). im not so sure about the whole wood thing...

UH, NO TO WOOD.
Funny story. In the '50's we didn't know what the H we were doing for the most part. Cars were kinda crude at times. (not all, but some)
Friend of mine had a '53 Ford that he swapped a Chrysler Hemi into, about a 1954 engine. He couldn't find appropriate spacers for the engine mounts, so he drilled holes through pieces of 2 x 4 and used these as spacers. Every time he would get on it the 2 x 4's would crack and fall out. He used to carry a supply of predrilled 2 x 4's in the trunk.
Lumber only has one place in a car..........use it to block up stuff while you are mocking up the car.

Yeah, if you wreck that think you'll get splintered to death.

On the plus side, with that much wood it would probably float if he happened to drive it in the lake.
Thank you Roger. .
