Frame difference w/65 & 68 Chevy Impala
any one have any spec's w/pictures on these two frames???? 65 Chevy 2 door & a 68 Chevy 4 door......
i have a friend who has a 65 Impala SS, the poor this is a rust bucket(sorry Jason) but he is determine to bring this thing back to life. his biggest problem other then the the body rust is "FRAME RUST" .
from what i've seen the drivers side has a rust problem near the transmission X-member, at the rear of the frame just b4 it curves up into the coil spring & shock area and several other areas along the drives side.
he also has a 68 Impala/Bel-air 4 door thats a beater w/lots of body rust but he says the frame is in great shape. so what is the TRUE difference between the frames if any & if there is a difference(i thinks its longer in the center) can it be used under the 65.
if the frame is longer in the middle or even the rear of the frame i believe there shouldn't be much of a problem to cut out what we dont need & reweld it back together & use it..
soooooooooo what do u folks think about this??????

The only difference is that the later frame will have 4 trailing arms in the rear instead of 3. Should just change over with no issues. 65-70 are all the same basic car. A cheap disk brake swap is to use the front discs, including the spindles from a 69-70 Impala and put them on the 65. The 4 door and the 2 door are the same wheelbase
