Cutting top off 65 Caddy Limo

Hello. I am considering cutting the top off my 65 Cadillac Limo. Looking for suggestions on how I should go about doing this. What should I consider for upholstry? Was thinking about renting a plasma cutter to remove...Any articles or suggestions would be most helpful.

    Thanks,
    Mitch

If your removing it completely just use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, or a sawzall works too

Hey, thanks for your reply. I've heard that sawzall's work as well, however a buddy of mine told me about plasma cutters being a way to really precisely cut the top off. In case you didnt know, I am cutting the top off permenantly, as in turning it into a full time convertible. I am looking for advice so that I can do this and have a professional end result. Should I talk to an interior upholstry person about how I should cut/prepare it for the best upholstry result?

Im not sure how your car is made, but you might have to do a little patch work after removing the top, to clean up the newly exposed edges, plasmas are really nice, but pricey, you can get the same result with an angle grinder if you take it slow

A plasma cutter is probably not your best bet for cutting your top. It is going to cut clear through all layers at once and not necesarily where you want it to. A cutting wheel or sawzall will do it just as quick and much cleaner.
