Taller tires
I wasn't happy with how my P295/50R-15 Firehawks filled the rear wheel well, so I picked up a couple of P285/70R-15 BFG T/As. They were tough to find. I checked all the local BFG dealers, and they wanted the price pluse $15 to $20 each for shipping. I picked them up from Summit- of all places - at a better price than any BFG dealer, and they shipped them from Sparks NV for $7.00 each. They don't show up as well without the wheel mounted, but the fit to the wheelwell looks much better to me. Anyone need a couple of unused Firehawks?

Dave,
I'm anxious to get the wheels shod and put it on the ground. The bigger tires should give it a nasty stance.
Had another Gibbon problem, though - one I should have caught earlier. There's practically no space between the trans and the tunnel for the cooling lines. And if they leak, there's no way to get to them without lifting the body up for clearance. I'm going to dump the hard lines, use a Banjo fitting on the trans outlets and run SS braided hose to the radiator. Then I'll probably have to fabricate a slight "hump" in the floor like I did on the other side to clear the solenoid.
I'm not sure why I should blame Gibbon. After all, they only had TWO FREAKIN' CHANCES to get it right.
I wonder how Race Bodies by Bond is doing these days.Jack

Oh now you went and did it Jack, those taller tires will mean ya gotta go to lower gears to get your RPM right through the lights!
I think it's gonna look bitchin'!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Looks good Henry.
If you don't burn em - well, maybe once or twice - they'll last a long time.
I'm sorry to hear they're getting tough to find.
I really like the ones on my roadster.C9

Al,
Since those are brand new American Torq-thrust IIs, there aren't any wheel changes in the near future. Changine tires was painful enough to the pocketbook.Jack

Yup, now I remeber one more reason I didn't like Gibbon's bodies....
As for race bodies by Bond, haven't heard a thing about them yet, doubt the quality did much improving because of a name change though....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I used to have those same size firehawks on the back of my S10. It looked kinda weird but they grabbed the road like a hot pair of slicks. If I knew anything I'd be dangerous.
