cooling ?
IM having overheating issues, the radiator i had started splitting at the seam, so i went to the junk yard and pulled one from an 80`s monty carlo, looked exactly like the one i had, now its overheating, i put in a 180 degree thermostat and a 10 pound cap still overheated just not as quick, i guess myquestion is can a radiator go bad, or can i clean it out some how, if so what do you guys recomend? thanks,

My first question would be, did the old rad cool it adequately?
Your new/used rad might well be plugged. It can be unplugged by a rad shop but by the time you do that, you might find that a new rad might be the better value. I think those rads only go for around $200 Cdn. At which point you might want to consider a three core for an additional 50 bucks.Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

ThphoonZR is probably right. I was going to have the radiator from my 53 over but it had to be reconditioned. The shop wanted over $300. I bought a NEW aluminum one off Ebay for $250. I'd do some looking around. In the mean time try back flushing the curent one.Charlie

If you need a new radiator NAPA, Auto Zone..etc have raditors cheap. I paid $80 for a gen II Camaro rad from NAPA. Also jegs & Summit have alum rad for less than $200.Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).

Most new radiators aren't like the ones of old, they are kind of throw aways. Autozone , NAPA, and others sell new ones so cheap it doesn't make economic sense to take an old one to a shop to be boiled out, rodded out, and fixed. You still end up with an old radiator.
That 210 you are quoting, HOTRODDADDY, was that moving or sitting at a light?

Running ar 200-210 is okay. My Z06 goes to 220 in traffic real fast.

That is pretty constant,it rarely moved from that, the 210 temp,it doesnt over heat quick, i drove to the beach 2 days ago, about 25 miles,it got to its normal temp then after about 15 -20 miles it started creeping up slowly, when i got to the beach it was at 250

The Rad shop will typically Hot Tank the radiator to clean it out. Of course older ones are usually are leaking after that so they will usually need to recore it also.
I'd but a new one personally.
I also agree with Don; 200 - 210 is OK if she behaves herself there.
