the trans fluid is still red and it doesnt smell real burnt. this has me and everyone i know totally stumped

not supprising. '93 New Yorker, has a 3.3L V6 right? there awsome engines but the transmissions have a lot of problems. My Mom bought a '94 Concorde with the 3.3 and the trans never was quite right, after 3 years it often would not shift out of 1st, my mom found a day that the trans worked like it should, and traded it in on a '02 Concorde. if it allowed the use of forward gears but no reverse, that rules out the Torque Converter, it probably needs rebuilt. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
