grabbing brake or bad rear gears?

Okay, I have put new brakes on the rear and now it seems like they are grabbing or maybe my rearend is having problems. Going forward it starts to groan and has grinding noise, as it goes a little farther it seems to jerk and shudder like brakes are grabbing or the gears are not meshing together right, but it seems to do this going forward only. Backing up it's quiet and the brakes seem to grab smoothly. Could the gears be messed up to where they grind and catch forward but will turn backing up? Am gonna try and see what I can find by putting on stands and turning wheels and see if I can chase down just where the noise is coming from, but could use other thoughts on what and how to check. Thanks

Well, I put all new parts in there. New shoes-long on back, short to front- new springs and nails, etc. Even new drums and wheel cylinders. Had a bad cylinder off the shelf and it leaked fluid into drum but didn't get much on shoes ,got an exchange on it and new one works good. Will re-check everything but pretty sure it's all sitting right. Thanks, Denny. Guess I'll go shiver and shake and re-check my brake! (gotta keep sense of humor)

I suppose if my dumd self had mentioned that it's a two piece driveshaft with carrier bearing someone would have figured out that's what it is. My whole#$%^ rubber bushing is gone!! Anyway, after I put a new one on will see what i've got. Thanks again
