    My son has a71 Nova that had 15 x 10 Mickey Thompsons on it. The car had air shocks pumped all the way up. The tires stuck out the wheel well about 2". Can you imagine what would happen if going down the road and the air shocks gave out. Trash the quater panels. He finally got stopped by a female cop in Pa. who did not appreciate the fact that the car was jacked up so high and that the tires stuck out past the wheel wells. In Pa. that is against the law. He had to get new tires and lower the car to 18 1/2", from bottom of the bumper to the ground, to make it legal. Now it looks like my granny's car. Had to take it to the police station for them to eye it up and give their approval.

    Okay, I'm going to ask a serious question I have for you because you're not the first one to be asking this type of question. I'm trying to figure out why folks will do this to themselves.

    You have the car. The only way to know if a wheel/tire combo will fit is to measure the actual vehicle, yet you take the word of someone who hasn't done that. And now you're seeking the feedback/opinion of others who don't have access to the vehicle. Why do this? Help me out here..........I don't get it!

    I guess the right answer would be how much work do you want to do. ANY TIRE will fit if your willing to work (pay) for it

    One other thing is that air shocks are not really made to give you any substantial lift, like some people use them. They are made to simply give you extra load carrying capacity, and maybe add a little height to the rear. But I see guys using them to really jack up the rear or even worse, as the only rear supports on cars like T buckets (in place of coilovers)

    The problem is that they can blow out if overextended or sometimes the threaded mounting studs will break off, and suddenly drop the car. If you have to jack the car up that far to get the tires under it, you have the wrong tires/wheels.

    Yes i can return the tires if they do not fit and it is one of my good friends that owns the tire store here in my town and has owned it for about 10 years. I would only assume that he would know but i also wanted some different oppinions and maybe hoping that somebody here maybe had the same car and would know what to do if not but thanks for all of the advise it was very helpful.

    If you have the correct width on the rear end and the correct backspacing on the wheels.... Otherwise sounds like some of the tire is going to be hanging outside your federwell.... If that is the case, all the rocks and road debris sure do mess up the paint on the quarter panels.....

    . . . and, if your suspension bottoms out, your tire eats your quarterpanel - or vice versa.

    Tub it.

    I had 15x 8.5 on my streetrod with 275x60 15's and it looked cool but the ride was hard and the wet traction was poor. Next wheels were down a little to 15x 8 with 255x60 rubber. Next will be 245 or 235. Looking for the best combo. I just make sure the tire height varies little.

    Question about tires

    I agree with Mopar

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TUB IT~~~~~~~~~~~~
    OR you could cut & re roll the edges to get away from those air shocks... and drop it to the ground and add some flares to give it a the road racing look..kind of like this,
