    Rocker pins

    Hey guys it's me again...
I've got my '67 El Camino up and running. But I've run into abit of an issue. Seems like a few of the Rocker arm studs are pulling out of the head as I adjust the rockers .
I've been shopping around for some nice heads, but honestly can't afford'em right now. The guys at Alamo Performance here in San Antonio turned me on to a pin set made by Mr.Ga sket made for this application. Apparently I have to tap the stubs bask in, drill a hole through the head and stud, then insert these dowel.
I guess my question is...has anyone ever done this or heard of it done, if so does it work??? Thanks.

I'm wondering if the studs are hardened? Do you think it'll be more trouble than it's worth?

i would tap them and use some new studs that threads in the head but you can do it the pin way to. for me threading new stud in is how i would do it but if more then 4 studs are pulled up. then pull the heads off and fix them all. the steel stud will be harder than the iron head so by the time you get a hole thru the stud the pin hole may be sloppy in the iron and not helping lock the stud down with the pin so you will need to step drill the hole up for the roll pin size and could be a pain in the ass you may have a hard time getting at the side of them with a drill but you can tap them from the top of the head and work down .not work on the side of the head with a drill.

Hot rodders have been pinning studs since the first small block rolled off the assembly line. My best advice would be to pull the heads and mill, drill and tap for screw-in studs and guide plates.

i have mill tap them and put guild plates in the chevy and olds and ford heads it is not cheap so if you love them heads and do not want a better head them fix them. but they do not need guilde plates. if mild engine .to do this is much more work and money and you have to drill the pushrod guild holes out of the heads and will need harden push rods to they make a 7/16 bottom and 3/8 that threads in and is made to fix a stock head with out guild plates

Looks like I'll go with some new heads & maybe see if I can fix these as spares or other project.
