VIN Questions SS or Not
Just purchased a 1965 Impala 327. The guy said it was a SS even had paperwork to prove it. Went home to de-code my VIN and to my surprise it tells me it's not a SS. My Vin starts with 164 the SS Vin starts with 166 or168
The car is nice motor rebulit new interior. Was upset at first but the car is in decent shape. Can anyone help me. It has bucket seats.

The '65 Impala SS VIN starts with either 165 (6-cyl) or 166 (V-8). 164 is simply an Impala V-8. The 168 VIN is a 66 or 67 V-8. Someone pulled the old clone trick.Jack

I was wondering why he was so eager to lower the price. The car is nice good shape new engine paint and int. I am happy with it. I wanted to make sure before I start buying the emblems.

If you are happy with it, whats it matter.........At least you didn't include the SS in your screen name.
