To reply to Mike's Q. I beleave if the problem is bad enough the engineers will get it back. Hence RECALL.
The dealers will change those parts and may even play a part in finding the problem, but thats based on opertunity and need. Who's to say that the independent couldn't figure it out given the opertunity and backing.
As for me I don't take my cars or trucks out for repair. I used to take my truck up for oilchanges because I was busy working and figured I didn't have time. It cost me over $600.00 for a new rear end. They kept marking everything OK then it busted I had to weld a nut to the plug to get it out when it had just been serviced dry and broken. I'm back to doing my own.
Not trying to step on anyones toes here but just my thoughtsCharlie

Only thing I could add for Albrainya is that I hope your employer is as loyal to you as you are to him!!!!! Believing in what you do is probably the most important part of doing a quality job!!!! Congrats on your dedication. But as Mike and Denny mentioned, most employers at dealerships that I've been involved in consider their line mechanics to be as easily replaced as the paper towels in the wash room............Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
