Exterior door handles
I posted this in Shop Area but maybe wrong section even though I got some good feedback-I am trying to change my exterior door handles on 1931 A coupe . I removed the screws that holds bezels to door but cannot get door handles/ shaft to slid out of latch assembly. Do I need to remove inner door panels to access a pin/ clip to allow handles to pull out of latch assembly? Thanks to those whom replyed to other area. 31 5w

I could be wrong, but I always thought the only thing holding the handle in place is the two screws on the bezel and that the square shaft simply slid into a square hole in the mechanism. Maybe it is just frozen from corrosion?

yes, thanks- Im still working on it. There is no corrosion , I can see down inside to backside of latch assemblty w/ window rolled all the way down but it still will not let shaft slide out w/ screws removed. I will try some peneterating oil sprayed on mechanism to see if just stuck. If that doesnt work will wait for wk or 2 since car in parade this wk-end and company next. thanks for all replies/help. 31 5w
Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
