Matching lug pattern front and rear
Im building a rod and after installing a Mustang II front end and a ford 9" rear, Im nearing buying the rest of the parts for the front end. The ford 9" has a 5 on 5 lug pattern (yes the same as Chevy truck pattern, it came from a 78 Lincoln Continental). I havent bought disk for the front but after looking at some catalogs Ive noticed that the main stream is either 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 bolt patterns. I still have to shorten the axle shafts for the rear so what would the best way to get matching lug pattern front to rear?

Just redrill the rear axles to whatever bolt pattern you will run on the front. Most competent machine shops can do it...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

If you have a choice, and it appears that you do - the 4 1/2" Ford pattern seems to be the norm with so many running the 8" and 9" Ford diffs and Granada front rotors on Mll front suspensions. Either have the axles redrilled or replaced with the bolt circle pattern you finally choose. The only thing that might be a problem is that many (most?) original Ford axles have a hole about 1" diameter to access the bearing retainer bolts. Also, consider using screw in bolts as well using Gr8 or 9 rather than the press in studs.Dave
