It also helps to preheat the aluminum, but no mater what you do it wont be as pretty as tig. The aluminum also jams up in time in the liner unless you have a spool gun.

Yup, out of desperation Saturday (out of gas on my tig), had to use the old spool gun out at the farm to put a fan shroud together for a car. Yuck!!!! No I remember why I never used it for anything besides welding the frame cracks up on my old grain trailer and flatbed!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Really, is it that bad?.I was going to get a spool gun for this.I have seen some pretty good welds and wanted the gun for welding a lot of aluminum real quick.I did know about the gas though.Nothing looks as nice as tig !Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 12-25-2006 at 01:54 PM.

We do this often and the welds are really nice. I am getting ready to build my tank on my roadster and will photograph it if you want, see what you think maybe we do it different or something.
