I got oil at the carb - vaccuum line to trany

If its not one thing, its everything else.

Pulled off the vaccuum line to the trans today and there was oil around it and traces in it. Is that vaccuum pot on the trans bad?

    Thanks Jim

Yep, modulator valve is leaking tranny fluid up thru the vacuum line.

When they get REAL bad you go down the road doing Mosquito control work. Sometimes you think you have a bad engine and it turns out to be just lots of tranny fluid getting sucked up.

    Don

Would that be during normal driving or when you're at full throttle?

Also, do they leak sometimes and other times stay sealed up ok?

No problem!!! I know a guy used to dump tranny fluid down the carb when running to allegedly remove carbon deposits on the valves..... Don't know if it helped the valves or not, but it sure did kill them skeeters!!!!!!

That's an old timey fix for inline Chebbie sixes - I've forgotten the name of the product now - it looked like ATF, but my father used to do that a lot years ago - man o man, not a skeeter for blocks for the white smoke cloud. Then there was "Upper Cylinder Lubricant" which went in the gas tank or down the carb and did the same thing.

Which reminds me, while taking down the outside Xmas decorations today, I saw several mosquitos - makes you wonder where winter is in my part of the country - it's ~ 50 here in Upstate NY and going to the mid 60's by Saturday.

That's Marvel Mystery Oil I think.

    I had a similar issue with a '78 Camaro.
I was flying south down LA 23 when I saw a State Trooper approaching.
Let off the gas, and then came the smokeout.

Well - he u-turned and wrote me a speeding ticket.

    Finally fixed it that weekend!
