It would be safe to say, that with the ignition set up right, and hydraulic cam it is probably putting out 170 Kw at 5000 rpm and 3000 Nm of torque at a dead flat curve starting around at 1500 rpm and going up to 3500 rpm.
Where did I get the info ? Looking at a dyno sheet graph printout on a 383 in a 1979 Camaro lt with 2.4 (?) gears, and the cast iron smogger heads. Which goes to show 383's work good on the street with thier ability to pump out the torque at street driven rev range of the motor.
Your engine may not be exact but it will be pretty close in power output."aerodynamics are for people who cant build engines"

As for changing Nm to torque I am not sure about the figures because there are several formulas. including time in seconds. And I am not sure weither you square it or divide it.
Well as for the torque curve being dead flat there was a slight rise and fall but nothing much.Last edited by southerner; 01-15-2007 at 11:46 PM.

OK - I haven't spent my life around cars and engines as many here have but -
383ci = 228hp ????
Are you sure you didn't mistype 383 as 283????
Seriously - there has to be something wrong with the equation - right????There is no limit to what a man can do . . . if he doesn't mind who gets the credit. (Ronald Reagan)

my desktop dyno shows 358 hp @ 3500 rpm. those are typically at the crank #s

Why not go rent a pull on a chassis dyno and know for sure??? Desk top dyno's are usually quite generous..... Which is why everybody talks about their 500 horse small block that runs in the 9's....on the computer!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
