Anyone used Por-15?
I have a friend who swears by this stuff. Has anyone here used Por-15? I'm building a 55 effie and the body is in great shape... want to keep it that way too! He states you put it on your floor, cab wells, inner doors and you will never have a rust problem in the future. Of course, that is if you don't have a rust problem now.I promise a two-way guarantee... if I break it you get both parts!

I've used POR-15 and Corroless with wonder results. The only thing you need to do is topcoat the materials if they will be exposed to sunlight. My advice is to wear long sleeve shirts and a good set of work gloves when working with either or, as it takes up to 4 weeks for it to wear off if you get it on your skin....Ask me how I know

Also this needs to be painted over bare metal.... light surface rust is fine as long as it isnt "loose" (wirebrush it a little first)
Sandblasted metal works great....
Just dont apply it over paint... it only works if it is in contact with the metal!Allengator

I agree, so you have 100% possitive response. again , works best with clean metal, and no loose rust, in spite of the advertisement.

The self etching primer is great, but prep is ultra important. If you click on my project link below you will see alot of it in action, especially the frame."oohh...thats gonna leave a mark!"

Dont try to paint bare smooth aluminum with it, it will peel off in 6 months. always use a good self etching primer first. Get plenty of rubber gloves. It flows really good even with a brush and brush marks disappear in a matter of minutes. After you open the can pour what you got left into a glass mason jar, put clear plastic wrap under the lid and then turn the jar upside down to store it. Put the cans lid back on the empty can and try to take it off the next day.

I was spraying a frame one day with Por 15 and a bug landed on the frame so I spayed another coat over the bug. Two weeks later while assembling the chassis I came across the bug. I scraped the bug off with a knife and his guts were still wet. That's how well that stuff seals moisture out and in. I've sprayed about 20 chassis with that stuff and people are always asking if it's powder coating. I can usually spray a frame and all of the suspension components with one quart. It goes a long way. If you spray it you need to wear a respirator. Nasty stuff if you get it in your lungs. I love it! (not to the point of being sexual)

very satisfied with the stuff,I tried it on a grill bracket that I should have done more work to before painting. Big mistake, that stuff is like iron. Hank

That stuff works great I used on the floor of my pickup truck and a couple of other items. But I was most impressed with it when i put on to the under side of my mower deck. I could never keep the deck from getting rusty no matter how often I cleaned it. I just cleaned and preped it and put in on on it's been almost 3 years and no rust in sight.

I spray it with a Harbour Freight HVLP gravity feed gun with a 1.4 needle. I think a paid $49.00 for the gun on sale.

Is this like 'Rust Doctor'?
Ive got some rust doctor but havent tried it yet. Thinking about using it for the rusty insides of the fenders and interior panels. They say it can be applied over prepped rust and paint.

Joe. have used POR15 extensively on Chassis, underbodies, etc. As others have said prep is the key and the stuff is like iron. I sprayed a frame with it in a homemade booth with fans, wore a respirator, and still felt weird for 2 days. POR15 does not work like ordinary paints that rely on solvents to dry. It reacts on some sort of chemical reaction that dries up all moisture(or at least encapsulates it) so it is VERY DANGEROUS for the lungs! I talked to a so Cal dealer who tried spraying it w/o a respirator and it mput him in the hospital for 2 weeks. Said he almost died. So be careful, and as stated before, wear gloves and be extra neat with it. Good Luck!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
