    Dzus dimpler

I need a Dzus dimpler but really don't need to spend $30 to $50 for 4 to 8 holes, total. I'm looking for an idea on how to make one easily(read - cheap ). Most use a big hammer and distort the sheet metal, and in my case, steel hood sides. I have seen some advertised with a bolt and nut that draw together the two pieces of the die without hammering and make the dimple.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks
    Dave

How about rounding off the end of a bolt of the diameter you want, and weld it to one jaw of your vice grips. Find a thick washer or short section of pipe with the right inner diameter and weld it to the other jaw?????

Here ya go . . . 1" aluminum, 3/8" FH bolt etc. and you're on your way.
They work well and no backup needed.

I usually make a few when I make em, got one left.
PM me your address and I'll send it to you....

The ones I make nowadays have a FH allen.
The phillips head was the prototype and worked, but an allen is much better.

18 gage steel in the pic fwiw.
