Flew from Charlotte to San Diego for boot camp Feb, '63. Had read all the hot rod mags about the proliferation of rods in Southern California, so just knew they would be everywhere. Walked out to the main drag by the airport to see all the rods going by. Must have stood there 15-20 minutes and haven't seen one yet. Very disappointed.

Yep Richard, me too. Wanted to move to California all my life (California Dreamin' and all that stuff ) Finally did in 1979, expecting to see hot rods all over the place. Didn't see any. Finally went to a show one weekend and saw lots of the rods I had been seeing in magazines for years. I just kind of assumed hot rodders in Ca drove their rods on a daily basis. Saw lots of Hondas and stuff though.
