On the front side I've got a 16" electric fan mounted to a stock location radiator and a short water pump, there is little room left there as well. I spent a lot of time measuring everything to make sure it would fit. I would suggest you do the same. When changing from the inline-6 to the V-8 I thought there would be a lot more room than there is... Go figure...

I could set the engine to fit the HEI; however I want the engine set back as far as possible so I can use the engine mounted fan. I may just go ahead and alter the firewall to fit.

Or hey you could throw a FORD or MOPAR motor in there!

I have a MSD billet distributor in my '32 (BBC). It has a firewall relief for a small block and that distributor is skinny. And I can just barely install it with the engine installed ........

That's what I wanted to do but once I had the motor in it looked to low so I went with the electric fan. Also you want to use a short water pump, the long ones are to long....

Found a pic that will give you an idea where your fan would be.....

It's a little hard to tell, but that is a 16" fan and the water pump is almost at the bottom of it. Basicly your engine mounted fan would be centered about 4" above the bottom of the radiator......That is if you use a stock location radiator.....
