Recreational pulling the 6 would be fine . If your going to haul alot i suggest a f250 with a diesel myself. I have a F150 with a 5.4 and 3.73 gears . Its a light duty truck i hauled a car trailer with the 31 and it was great on flat ground. I did know it was back there though. The 6 will struggle at high speeds and hill climbing.

Well I would buy a bigger truck if I had the money. The 300 is better on gas anyway isnt it?? I wont be pulling to many heavy cars, but will need to pull my race car every other weekend.

my grandfather got about 16-18 MPG with his '88 300 6cyl, 4X4 5spd single cab XL when it was still on the road, the truck he's got now, a '95 F150, has the 300 6, but it's 2WD auto, gets about 20 MPG. my dad borrowed his '88 once, to pull our boat back to our house ( My dad's '97 F150 broke down and AAA refused to take care of the towing bill on the boat ), and it pulled it good.
