does she got the power???
I need a new truck and theres a good deal on an early 90s ford f150, but it only has a strait 6 in it. Its a 5 speed. I would be hauling cars with it and was woundering if this truck would do it easily?? I know it wont be like a small block but would she get it done? thankswhen in dout, throttle out

better than a 302 any day, all kinds of torque, and almost the same displacement. 4.9L. it will haul pretty good for you. 302's have the power, but not the same torque. only thing better than a F150 with a 300/4.9L I6 is an F250 with a 351W.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

If you're going to be hauling cars on a regular basis, go find one with a diesel or a big block. The 300 six is a good engine, but a bit low on power when hauling a load down the highway. When towing, you'll get really tired of downshifting from 5th to 4th....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I had a F150 with a 300 in it they have good power but not the greatest for towing, like Dave said go with a big block or diesel . I bought a F350 diesel , lots of power and it gets better fuel mileage than a gas motor.

Hi:
I have an 85 Bronco with a 300 ci. 6 and a 4 speed (overdrive 4th) I towed a trailer witha 40 ford pickup the hills were rough to get up on the interstate.
If you plan to tow alot go for a bigger motor, ie. 351

remember about the brakes id go with a heavy duty truck for the brake power as well as the towing power , i tow a boat and a car trailer but you got to rember people in front of you usally arent towing a car too and if they stop short .......bam ......nothin like hearing those lake pipes roar!!!!

Recreational pulling the 6 would be fine . If your going to haul alot i suggest a f250 with a diesel myself. I have a F150 with a 5.4 and 3.73 gears . Its a light duty truck i hauled a car trailer with the 31 and it was great on flat ground. I did know it was back there though. The 6 will struggle at high speeds and hill climbing.

Well I would buy a bigger truck if I had the money. The 300 is better on gas anyway isnt it?? I wont be pulling to many heavy cars, but will need to pull my race car every other weekend.when in dout, throttle out

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
