B.F. Goodrich 285/70 tires... where'd they go??
I had planned on getting some BFG T/A's for the rear of my van. 285/70/15's... They were available no more than a month ago, but now I cant seem to find them anywhere. Could they be discontinued?? I tryed Summit, Jegs, Les Schwab(online), Discount tire(online), and Big-O-Tires(online) and they all turn up nothin. Im going to check local tire stores today, but if anyone knows what happend to this size tire, or where I can get a couple, please let me know. Thanks.
Here's a picture of a van similar to mine with the 285/70's...just to give you an idea what Im talking about.
Im tired of all this arguing...
Its not a hot rod, kustom, rat rod, lead sled, gasser, and its not a street machine....its my car.

I got a pair from Summit a few months ago. I was amazed at the low shipping cost - only $7.00 per tire. The local BFG store told me they would have to backorder - and charge me freight of about $20.00 per tire. I'm starting to think the BFG discontinued them. They're not listed in the catalog any more. As much as I hate it, it looks like rodders are going to have to move up to bigger wheels in order to get a decent tire.

I agree, Zombie. They seem to be scarce.
I was looking recently and found plenty of 16s and 17s but no 15s. I wound up getting a used set from a friend. Mine look good but I'm a little uneasy because I'm not sure how old they are.
Good luck.

I bought a set a year ago from NTB. If they are discontinued and new rims are required later on it's gonna get expensive.

So many rodders run them, I'm surprised they would discontinue them. BFG usually goes out of its way to court the performance minded people. Have you checked BFG's website?

Oops! Didn't see that. Shoot, that means I will have to go to 17 inch on the rear if and when mine wear out. Maybe they were pulled for a re-design or something. Hmm.

Im sorry about that! Im a now retired B.F.G. dealer, my son now owns the store so I checked this out for you. The largest 70 series tire B.F.G.has now is the 255/70R15 but that should be plenty big enough.
I have them on the rear of my full fendered 32 roadster and they fill the fender perfectly. check them out

Fenders?? what are they? Hmm... I have a brand new pair of 285/70 15 BFG Silvertown WWW's on the back of my deuce... zero road miles... maybe I should take em off and sell 'em for big bucks now that they're rare.

On my 34 high boy chassis I have 295/50-16. Looks very nice (to me) Not too much rubber and not that high tech look either.
But they are maybe too big for a van?
I have heard 295/50-16 is a common tire dimension among the Cobra kit car drivers.

Well, up-ing to 16" wheels would be a possibility, but still that only puts the tires at 26.6" tall with 295/50's. I was aiming for about the 28" range.
Right now I have 275/60/15, which are at 26.5" tall.
And no, those are not too big for a van. I have N50's on the back of my other van.Im tired of all this arguing...
