    Chevy truck frame dimensions ?

Is there a web site that has frame dimensions? I am looking to put a Chevy truck frame under my 41 IH. I am thinking some thing like a mid 80s. When did they start using torsion bars on the front? Thanks Mark

If you're looking to use the cab and fenders to build a hot rod, then you can probably get away with an S-10 frame. I have the dimensions and photos on my website. If the photo is the IH, then you're going to need a MUCH heavier frame. I can't see the back end, but it looks like a 1.5 ton or better, with dual's/tandem's. If you're going to keep it stock looking, then a full size GM frame would be your best bet. The only way to know is to crawl under and measure the frame width, length, thickness, wheelbase and track. Then go crawl around in junk yards until you find one suitable.

It's a KB 5 about a 2 ton truck. But the thing with IH is they used the same cab for KB 1 (1/2 ton) to KB 5. The only diffrence is the wheel well opening is bigger on the KB 5 and the cab mounts are in a different place. Have already chopped the top. I have a journal on hotrodders.com if you want to see I use the same name as here. Will have to check out your website. Thanks Mark

I would thing a 1 ton chassis would be sufficient, then you would also be getting the good Bud wheels and hubs. If it's just going to be a cruizer might want to consider just a half or 3/4 ton frame so you can get some decent suspension and wheel selection.... Should be a fun build, keep us updated on the progress!!!
