    need some recommendations

     



    i just picked up a 97 blazer and the tranny kinda clunks and whathaveyou sometimes and i want to take every precaution i can to make this trans last.
    does anyone have any recommendations on stuff to use like, synthetic fluid or stuff like that?

    good point. you guys always make me feel stupid lol. honestly not sure. i literally got the truck like 8 hours ago. but i do want to make sure this trans will last.

    Is this blazer a 4x4?

    If it is you might want to check for slack in the chain inside the transfer case.

    A broken tranny mount can also cause some of the noises that you are hearing.

    Check the splines on the rear ds slip yoke to see if they need to be lubed (common problem). I would also suspect u-joints before a bad chain in the transfer case.
