Cool ** a Tall Guy in a Hot Rod? **(1923 Ford T bucket)

    Hi everyone.

Growing up, I have always wanted a 1923 Ford T Bucket. Just like my uncle had until he sold it. The thing is back then I was a lot shorter. Now I am 6’5” and wondering if I’m too tall to fit in this hot rod.

I like the price point of the Ford 23 T, the looks and have ideas on what I would do to one but am hesitating to buy one.

The kicker is, no one in the area where I am from (Vancouver, BC.) has one, and therefore I would need to source one out over the Internet without trying one on for size.

Does anyone have any input here? Or know of a tall guy in a 23 t bucket?

    Thanks for reading through.

    The Zombie.

Welcome to CHR. We have several T people here including some who are in the process of building at this moment. I am sure you will get a lot of help and advice from all of them. That said, at 6'5" you will probably need to make some modifications in order to be comfortable. Some companies made extended cab versions that will accomodate larger (or taller) persons. I would suggest that you scope out the ones sold by Total Performance Inc. @www.tperformance.com They are an excellent company to do business with.

    Something like this probably?

Seriously, check out www.carnut.com and you'll see lots of T's, some with various sized people in them .........

California Custom Roadster is another source for stretched buckets. A couple of my customers have them, and the owners are very happy with the extra foot room!

    Welcome!

I think you are going to be pretty cramped in a standard length 23. I'm about 5'11" and it's tight for me. Of course I like to sit "down" in the car. Most T-buckets have a higher sitting position which might make it better for you.

You may want to look for a stretched body. I know California Custom Roadsters lists one that's stretched 8". In J. Robinson's thread(Another Build Thread?) he talks about his body that is stretched 6". I can't remember if the Total Performance Anniversary body is stretched. You might give them a call.

    Welcome to the CHR Forums

I'm 6'4" and had a Total Performance bucket(http://www.tbuckets.com/), and was not really uncomfortable. You can lower the seat for some more room. While I like the CCR stretched, I'm not sure how complete a package they sell. Also Spirit seem to have a pretty good following(http://www.spiritcars.com/).

The National T Bucket Alliance also has a lot of good info: ( http://www.nationaltbucketalliance.com/ )

    This was my TP bucket

Definitely going to need the stretched body. Built one for a customer a year or so ago, he's 6' 6" and fits, but just barely. It is kind of fun to watch him get in and out, though!!!! I moved the seat back as far as possible in the car and also used a race car type steering wheel hub with the quick pull pin...
