Detroit lockers are noisy, but IMO still the strongest and most reliable posi unit on the market. I've put some brutal horsepower to them and they hold up amazingly well......but they aren't bulletproof....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

detroit locker s do not like them much .i went to one so i could run 35 spline axles. if you get on the car and let of it the locker has free play in both wheels . if you get back on the car you will ruin you trans. i blew out 2 gear with one. a ford 4 spider clutch true track set up right will be all you will need. i have put alot of power thru one have had the same one for over 20 years

....THANKS Dave, THANKS Pat, yeah for my needs I think the True Track would be best. Sounds like Detroit Locker would be best for a drag car but I don't want to take any chances on ruining my transmission. Playing on the street I'm more likely to let on/off the throttle. Plus my car is ALREADY noisy enough! Do all the True Tracks have 4 Spider Clutch Packs??? Or do I have to ask for that one particularly. Thanks again, Bill

most do if you get one used ford type you do not want the one with 4 window holes clutch side in the unit they crack thru them one from the 80s had 4 spiders

Get a new one from Randy's Ring and Pinion. That is where I got mine. And, yes, I agree that it is a great limited slip for a street rod. Leave the Lockers for the drag strip.

......THANKS again Everyone, I'm having a shop build a 9" center section for me right now. It'll be ready on Wednesday. I already had a Nodular Iron center w/ aluminum pinion support so their using that. I also had them switch the gears to 4:11's & add a True Track......
It'd better be A LOT faster or I'll be here Wednesday night asking questions such as; "my car isn't fast enough, what can I do"??? Bill
