Volare/Aspen front clip questions.
I have been thinking about doing a 39-47 Dodge pick up build. Everytime I read a post about the Volare/Aspen front end swap, it's always under a 48 or newer Mopar, or a Ford F1/F100. Has anyone done a Volare/Aspen or other Mopar front end under a 39-47 Dodge or Plymouth? And NO, I don't want to use an expensive aftermarket Mustang II. I'd rather use one from a Mopar or even a GM donor.52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

Hi Lakota.....I'm one of th ones who did the Aspen/Volare under a 51 F1 years ago. Unfortunatly it has long since been sold so I don't have it around to compare.
I think you may find 2 issues with the A/V into an early Mopar.
The first being tread width (I don't know how siginificant this will be but could possibly be compensated for with off set wheels).
Again not sure about the 39 and up but my 37 Dodge PU has a pretty siginificant kick up in the front frame rails. The A/V work pretty well on the Ford because the front fame rails are straight and it basically goes in with just trimming the rails. Because of the kickup (if it's still their on the 39-47s) there will probably be some siginificant modifications involved to get the front end under there.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Hey Iakota, I've got a '78 Aspen under my '48 GMC. Works good and rides okay. Looks dorkie under the truck though. Tommy
