Droped Axles
I never had a street rod with a straight axle. How do the new ones ride and handle? Can you take long trips? Will you be beat at the end of the day? Alan

With the right springs and shocks, they ride fine. They'll never be as smooth as IFS/IRS, but they won't beat you up.Jack

Yep, as Jack said, it won't compare to modern IFS, but there have been significant improvements in parts for straight axles in recent years. Posies SuperSlide springs and better suited shocks are just two. We also know more about the right way to set them up now than we did years ago, and that helps.
But, let's face facts, it's a hot rod, not a Benz...............a certain amount of rough ride is part and parcel of the car, and in most of our opinions, what makes them cool and fun. If I wanted smooth ride, I would stick to the family car. If I want fun, I drive a hot rod.
