Frame and firewall cleaning
Would like to hear from some of the guys that had done this without a shot blaster. Got the old v6 out this week(S10) and power sprayed the frame and firewall. As you are probably thinking right now,,,that didn't clean every thing enough for paint. I have no problem with taking many hours of sanding, wire brush attachment, etc.,,,but was wondering if some of you more experienced guys may have a tip or two??? Don't want to buy a shot blaster or do a 'complete' disassembly as this is not a 'show' vehicle and maybe my last rebuild. Any reply will be appreciated.Thanks,Jerry."On a r-e-e-e-e-al,,,,qu-i-i-i-i-i-et night,,,,,,,,(whisper),,,,,,,, you can hear a Ford rust!!!"

If you are really brave----an angle grinder, a wire cup brush, good leather gauntlets, really good safety glasses (the kind like swim goggles that press against your face and won't let a wire sliver up underneath to peirce your eyeball), heavy coveralls---and have at it.Old guy hot rodder

A box of 36 grit sandpaper on a grinder with a correct sized back up pad works good once you have the big chunks scraped off the frame.... Plain old grocery store oven cleaner sprayed on the firewall outside in the hot sun will remove a lot of the oil film and nasties. Cheap and easy.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thanks guys. Now if I can keep the wife from catching me in the coveralls using oven cleaner, she might find some work in the house to keep me busy"On a r-e-e-e-e-al,,,,qu-i-i-i-i-i-et night,,,,,,,,(whisper),,,,,,,, you can hear a Ford rust!!!"
