Will an S10 Blazer work on a 48 Chevy?

I know the purists will tell me not to, but I want to update the chassis under a 48 Chevy Coupe I am working on. The original frame is rusted and not really worth fixing. I am on a budget and I have heard of guys using Chevy S10 frames. I have a friend willing to give me a Chevy S10 Blazer for free. Will this frame work or are they so different I need to keep looking for an S10?

Check the wheelbase. Most cars set on a truck frame end up looking like....a car on a truck frame... Lots of things to consider...floor modifications, front sheet metal mounting, fenderwell and tire clearance, getting the wheels centered in the wheel wells, etc.... No idea what the difference is between an S-10 pickup and an S-10 blazer frames are, either one requires the same considerations and the same amount of work!

Ill answer this one for ya seeing as how i have a bagged 99 sonoma and have worked on about 15 bagged S10s in my life... The frames in the front are the same, unless their thr 4x4 of course. But the frame in the rear is the problem. They have a huge arc to them that will cause you all sorts of problems under the rear floor. Go find yourself a S10 and you'll be much happier and it will be much less work than the blazer frame.

I also think. the 4x4 is 4" wider in the rear.

I must say that im a HUGE purist.... when it comes to the type of air ride parts i use...

There certain companies out there i just WILL NOT buy from and will harp on people if they go to use them

Now as far as bein a purist on mixing car brans i.e. Ford with Chevy.. welll that another story. I wanted to go all Ford on my 46 Ford (see username) but i know of a few S10s laying around and the front ends are just so tempting to use. But i know the widths dont match, but im sure depper rims could handle that. The more i look up Ford front clips and rear clips, and the more i see their prices, the more appealing my Chevy parts become.

Not really an answer to your question, but I have managed to use an S10 frame (and engine) under an MGA ... my only issue was motor alignment in the engine compartment ... had to move the motor back 16" and down 5" from it's previous location.

I was thinking of using a Blazer frame, but the one I looked at had 4WD. A 4WD MGA just wasn't what I was looking for.

Ok, here's the answer you're looking for.

The S-10 Blazer has a 100" wheelbase on the 2 door, and a 108" wheelbase on the 4 door. It sits higher than the S-10
The S-10 pick up has three wheelbases. 108" shortbed, 117" longbed, and 122" extended cab.

The width (track) is 55" from hub/rim mating surface to hub/rim mating surface. The rearend of an S-10 4X4 is 59"

The S-10 frame is 34" wide at the front, expands to 40" just under the cowl. It's 3"X4" boxed all the way to the bed and wider and taller at key stress points.

If you decide to use an S-10 frame, get one that had a V6 in it. You can reuse the engine frame mounts. The 4 banger mounts are different and have to be removed, AND they are a BEECH to get out.
