Low rear end
Good morning, can anyone help me with this problem?
I have a "Beater" 57 chevy 2door post. Have 4" lowering
blocks on the rear with a 350 wild cam and a 4 speed.
That said at times when I "Kick in both 4 brl.carbs my
third member hits the bump stop on the floor above the
rear end. To make things worse I cannot let anyone
ride in the back seat because again the third member
hits.
Do I need "Air Shocks" or what ?
Thanks so very much for your time and help. "Cool Guy"

Sounds like you have some clearance issues on the rear end.... Either going to have to raise the car up a bit or do some rework for clearance on the floorboards.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

As a bandaid, air shocks might help. I had to install air shocks on the front of my Jeep pickup when I swapped in the 5.0........the motor mounts would bottom out on the radius rods on hard bumps. Trouble is, it will raise you up a little, wiping out the low look you are trying to get with the blocks. You might get by with just enough air in them to stiffen the ride up somewhat.
Also, put only skinny people in the back seat.

Also I dealt with a lowered truck that did the same thing and when I asked the last owner that did the work under the truck, he informed me he just put the blocks on and then heated each set of leafs till it dropped to the desired height ...
What was happening was, you could push the back down and it just kept springing up and down like a carnival ride well... when it stopped bottoming out it bounced . just ordered new springs and shocks yesterday.
Maybe someone heated yours up to "help" the drop.
just something else to think about .
