    finding a hood scoop

i have been on a hunt for a cowl hood scoop for 2 months now. my problem is i can not go over 25" width. i was poking around jegs sunday for the 1000th time and they now have one listed at 24 inch width, i ordered it and it is really 29 inch width, guess who is getting a scoop back at thier expense with the oversize shipping rate? my only other choice now is one guy on ebay makes them but only accepts paypal, and someone always tries to access my account and clean it out. he says send him the money without the auction for the part. ive also got reliability issues for a part such as this from an individual. should i bite the bullet and send the guy a money order and not got through an auction. you would think a carb is only 12" wide max, but the scoops are all 29" wide. oh well ill find one someday!

    mooneye,

Is this for the anglia? Looking for the scoop only or a hood? Try www.carhoods.com ... I see they have steel cowls some of them 24" wide
www.usbody.com (I think also affiliated with carhoods) has many other scoops and fiberglass body parts.

no this is for the mustang, i have 2 1/2 inches of just carb sticking through the hood. and the hood was styled from 1979- to around 1987. and everything you can get now is from 87 and up. thanks for the tip i will give them a call.

thanks anyway, no go with either one. they have a scoop but it is one inch too wide, they have a hood but only a 2" height advantage over stock, and i need a 4". the journey continues.

I had an old 70s style cowl type hood scoop, it is pretty tall though...If you want it I could see if I still have it...Its something like 12"Hx24"Lx12"w, If you look at it from the front it has like a hour glass shape with a flat top...

Steel or glass??? I usually just build my own, never had much luck finding what I like in a catalog..... For a Mustang, how about one of the old teardrop scoops like the Thunderbolts ran??? (I think they were on a Thunderbolt, weren't they?)

i am looking for a glass hood or scoop, harwood directed me to a company to call about 5 minutes ago. they list one but have to call and verify. at 500 bucks a hood, a scoop is a cheaper alternitive but if thats what i have to do then i will. the aore scoop at 12" tall it a bit more than i want, thanks for the offer anyway, and the tear drop scoop would be awsome except the hood is already cut for the old style prostock scoop. so i have a paramiter to deal with there also. thanks for the advise guys!

A 'glass scoop could be cut, then narrowed ,and glassed back together......or a local 'glass shop could easily do it for you.
