can someone tell me some common ford gears. all i know is i have a ford 9.the year i dont realy know.just bought the truck a few months ago.and the right way to tell what gears i do have.and is there a stamping on the chunk to tell me what year? thanks......

If it still has the tag on it, the lower left corner will give you the ratio.
Something like 3.50. If there is a L anywhere in that corner means a 'locker'
I was told once that the upper right corner will tell you if it is 28 or 31 sline,but I havent found anyone who has a list as of yet.
