    wiring problem

    Hello All

I have a chevy camero 305 in a 410 dodge coupe , the problem is there are a few wires coming out of the cpu that i dont know where they go . I got this car about half done with not much info . The guy with all the info passed away . Im mostly concerned with the two big orange wires. They are fused, one is 20 amp and the other is 15 amp.
So where can i find a wiring diagraham for this????

    thanks for any help
    Jeff

You've got a good mystery there. The module is a Blue Streak brand which is aftermarket replacement....you might take the 7030 number on it (or other number if available) and go to someone who sells Blue Streak to cross it to a specific car/engine/trans/induction combo. It should match a GM color code and certainly matches the pinout for that specific application.

Usually the orange wires are hot, GM never fuses a ground wire and does not use orange for ground. However, you need a diagram to determine what these wires feed....

The best diagrams I have found are from Helm. You can get them at helminc.com, but you will need to know the year of the camaro to get the right book. Some of their stuff is a bit pricey, but in my opinion, it's worth it. I agree with Robot about the orange wires being important. One other question, is this by chance a tuned-port 305 out of a mid 80's camaro? If so, I've got wiring diagrams for an 86 that may have what you need. If you think these will help I will try to post some pics of them.

You should also be able to find them in the reference section at your public library.

Beware, GM switched between Mass Air Flow Sensors and Speed-Density methods in the 80's and the wiring is significantly different between them. You gotta know your hardware origin

1st pic, wires are fused orange to pink, seems to be the case with the other wires. What letter terminal do the wires feed to ? 99.9 % of the time, GM is wired pink or pink w/blk to fused ignition. Orange or orange w/ blk is 12v battery fused, Red is 12v supply (fused or w/ fuseable link), Black or black w/ white is ground.
If the fused pink wires are in cavities B and G, they are the fused ignition injector leads, cav F is the ECM ignition feed. This is refered to as the I/P connector.
This is for a 5.0/5.7 w/ port FI, era '90. Most of the pin-outs would be roughly the same thru the years. Good luck, D
