Cool Need Source(s) for Tilt Front Hinges

Title says it all - can anybody point me to a vendor or vendors that make quality hinges for tilt front ends?

Speedway used to sell them, probably still do. Might want to look there.

just make some up you could look at some big clevis and make the other part out of flat plate or L iron or alum drill a pin hole and buy some pins that use the hair clip to hole them the clevis could be male on female this part would be run in to the end of the frame horn and make it so you could ajust it and jamnut it

we used a gate hinge on the end of the frame horn and built a bracket for the front end...... done that back in the mid 70's and it's still working today just fine

    Thanks for the Ideas

Thanks for the ideas. Looks like I have a lot of options. I think I'll buy a set of the plans to further my thinking. I got a good look at one of those Pontiac roadsters yesterday - forget what they're called. It has a tilt front end so I studied that hinge for a while. Of course, that hinge runs steel to steel and mine will be steel to fiberglas. I guess I'll just have to beef up the glass around the mounting point.

    Thanks, again, for your help.

Do what hot rodders have always done, go to the junkyard. Most medium duty and larger trucks have used fiberglass tilt front ends for many years now. A lot of Ford trucks use a pretty basic steel set-up, many Kenworths use a mostly aluminum hinge, etc. Look around at a yard that has a lot of trucks and I'll bet you'll find something you like and that can be easily adapted to your needs.

A set of late model Mustang trunk hinges should do the trick. You can use the hood hinges as well, but it requires you to cut and weld a stop tab on.

PS: I thought you were building a Cobra for Kathy?
