Someone told me a good combination is 502 heads and 502 cam again I dont know if this is right . Just stumbled onto this forum and seems like someone might be able to help me here. I just like speed and the motor is in my drag boat and would like to get to about 90 plus
MPH . As far as I know the motor is stock and I am not so sure what compression I have, I know it is a 80s motor if this helps at all. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, first we have to know how many rpm's you are going to turn the engine, comp. ratio.
If this engine runs in salt water then you will need to run the inconnel valves.
It is really important to have good valve-train stability.
Good roller rockers and a good stud girdle.
I would run a smaller mech. roller cam.
I don't trust hyd. roller cams for long periods of time at higher rpm's.
Another area is how well you can "dock" your boat.
It would be very hard to pull your boat to the dock if the engine won't idle less than 1,800 rpm's.
