ONCE I cut holes in a firewall to access the top bellhousing bolts. Managed to place it perfectly, and popped in a couple rubber plugs when done. Looked factory, if one didn't know better.
No need to filter the fluid if you know its fresh, and have a clean catch pan . Just drape a clean cloth over the pan to catch any garbage you might knock loose.. but I guess that would be kind of filtering, eh?
I keep old yokes around too, but have found the hard way, to plug the cooler linee holes as well. I keep around an assortment of the plastic shipping / bleeding plugs from master cylinders for just that.Last edited by firebird77clone; 04-24-2012 at 06:30 PM.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Went to the mother ship yesterday. Sacramento Vintage Ford. What a cool showroom, setup more like a museum. Spent a couple of hours looking at all kinds of parts that would help with this truck build. Checked out the Lokar nostagic look shift linkage, very cool setup. Looked at truckbed wood kit for 48's different from everything else. Best of all was a 35-4? real axle/leafspring/shock setup. The bottom plates for the shackles have the shock mounts that my 48 used to have on the 2" wide axle, only these are made for a 3" axle, so I'll call TCI and see if they will sell just the plates. Will make my life much easier! But best of all there are a few guys there that have worked similar projects and they were worth the gas money for the 170 mile round trip alone! Plus there is a Hooter's just a few blocks from there that serves up a mean western burger for a special on Mondays! Nice day." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Started Operation Engine Removal. LOL . I took the nose/grill pieces off the front of the truck, drained the radiator, and removed that, before I had to work yesterday. Next will be disconnecting all the wiring, and tranny and then have a friend over to help hoof the beast out with the cherry picker! Got most of what I hopefully need to make it a quick turnaround time." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

406Rich - that sounds like a plan! Would be a good test trip to see if it could make it to Hot August Nights!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.
