Yes, you weld the spider gears together and it locks it up solidly

One notr tho, I did that several years ago and one day on the way home from the Alton, Il dragstrip they broke and I had to leave my car along side of the road---when I got back, the dual quads were missing

You can buy what is known as a mini-spool to replace the spiders pretty reasonable--

    WELDING Rear Diff.

Thanks for the reply's... I only drive this thing a few time a year and when I do.. watch out for the smoke. I am tired of replacing the RR tire and need to give explicite instructions to my brother where to weld. Dumb I am, but also determined and a little excited. If anyone can give me step by step instructions to complete this it would be much appreciated...

    thanks!

Just buy a mini-spool, when it breaks you need another mini-spool. When the welded spiders break, you need a brand new third member. The mini-spools only cost about $40.00, a used 3rd member is about $250.00....

I agree, get the mini spool

You'll definitely be sorry if you weld the spiders

yep and if a C clip axle if the rear end axle brakes you need a new truck or just a box side if lucky

We usedta weld 'em in our round-track stock car, and you had to weld EVERYTHING into a lump or it'd break up after a few races. And yes, then you need a whole rear end ,cause they won't come apart again!
