Old Ford Door Latch Solution...
Hello, some may remember the door latch problem I had trying to get an shaved auto-loc system to work on my '38 Ford pickup, where the original latches were just too strong to allow the solonoids to pull back the latch. Even after total cleaning and oiling, newer more powerful solenoids and a ball bearing pulley... no way! So I did the unthinkable and... heated up the original srpings to release the tension. Well, it worked (so far)! Lost about 1/2 the tension but plenty left and now the system works!!
Note: A number of folks on the forum said no way, don't do this! I'm simply stating that I had no choice but to try it and it worked. I am not recommending anyone do it also, but it was my solution and hopeully this might help someone. Thoughts?? Questions??

Creative solution!
That's awesome that it worked - I'd have thought your springs would be mush after that! Nice solution to a common problem w/ shaved door kits!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
