    Nova sub/37 Pontiac

I've got a 74 nova subframe to install on my 37 pontiac. Anybody out there done one before? I'm looking for some pics or info on where to graft the frames. I've seen it done several different ways.

    Thanks, Slantback

I don't have pics, but I've done this several times. You want horizontal welds for maximum strength. You 37 frame will be taller than the sub frame. Cut a horizontal slot and slide the two frames together and weld that way. Make your first "chop off" cut about 4 inches longer than you thimk you'll neef then slide the two together and start measuring. Slowly "sneak up" on the final trim. It;s easy, but time consuming. You will, however, wind up with a safe and strong modificatioon.

First thing is to makes sure the old frame, new front are square and secured to something substantial to hold them in place..... You should rig up a fixture of some sort to hold everything in place. Measure from corner to corner for squareness... Personally, I much prefer stock frames with upgraded suspension and braking systems over welding on an old, worn out subframe of questionable previous use....but both methods work....

isnt there a frame maybe that i might could set this body on?i guess as long as the wheel base was right and the width was close i could right?you know the frame is good on this 49 plymouth,i woder if its to narrow thou for the sub?i've heard different stories of that situation and some say use it and some say try FATMAN FAB for there front end but honestly i cant afford that and i've already got a whole parts car in driveable condition.not shure what to do
