    429/460 48 Ford F1 Project

Time to work on the brake booster and to install the performance improvements to the old beast of an engine. In an attempt to ID the motor size I had removed the valve covers over Christmas, to find DOVE-C heads underneath. The block is stamped 460, but I haven't dropped the pan to ID the crank, so it will be the 429/460 project for now.
Stupidly I mixed up the wires moving the covers off the heads, so after a few frustrating online hours hunting down the number 1 wire position on the distributor, and the finding the correct rotation, I got the beast to fire up. It doesn't run really smooth, so I may be off a bit, or maybe the point gap is off. Before I put the Edelbrock 2166 performance manifold on and the edelbrock 4bbl 1407 performance carb on, and replace the current distributor with the Mallory comp 9000 series 92 unilite distributor, I will seek the advice of all of you over any unforseeable timing isssues, no vacuum adv on distributor, etc... to avoid any further wasted energy than is necessary.
Though I've taken a few weeks off the truck, I've gathered valuble info as to how I want to approach my engine. I like the balance of the edelbrock performance series of parts and will probably install their matching cam and hydrolic lifters as well as there timing gears and chain set. Has anyone used these before, and things to look out for?

I hate the Winter! I got home this afternoon and it was overcast and wet outside. I'm tired of waiting on the weather to get work done on the hot rod. What really bugs me is Sat and Sun it was beautiful weather, but I had to work, Today on my day off its the!@($^%@ again!
Sometimes it just needs to come out and then I have to laugh at myself. Good day to all!
