Disable locking steering column?
Hi all,
Have a 32 chevy with a steering column from the late 70's which locks when the key is turned off. Is there a way to disable this function and is it a big job? I have no clue so I thought I would ask before I tore into it.
Thanks,
Milner

cut or remove the pin under the bell shaped trim below your steering wheel. its not easy. You will see how it works when you get there.

Done.... No problems. Such experienced people on this forum. I was always afraid if the throttle stuck and I turned the key off, the steering would lock.
Thanks again,

It shouldn't lock the steering in the "off" position, just when its turned all the way back so the key will come out.?
