Model A fenders?
What is the difference between 28/29 and 30/31 model A fenders? I am guessing that they are just styled differently but bolt up to an A frame the same.
Thanks for the help,
Thomas

There is a big difference in the front fenders down at the seam where they attach to the splash aprons above the running board. On the 28/29 series fenders, the splash aprons extend about 24" beyond the front of the running board, and the trailing edge of the fender is scalloped out to accomodate them. on the 30/31 fenders, the splash apron ends at the front of the running board and the trailing edge of the fender has the splash apron "built in" to it. the only way to mix and match the fenders is to mix and match the splash aprons as well---which means lifting the body off the frame to do so.Last edited by brianrupnow; 01-29-2008 at 05:22 PM.

On the rear fenders, the notch at the front for the running boards is narrow on the 29's and wider on the 31's.
The fender proper is 1" wider on the 31's.
If you're running bobbed fenders - as I am - you can run either 29 or 31 on 29 or 31 car since the arc is the same.
They fit right up, but you'll have to drill some new holes due to the mounting bolt pattern is different.
I'm probably going to run the 29's on my 31 roadster because the fit between tire and fender is closer and looks a little better imo.
Along those same lines it appears a bobbed A fender would work fine on a 32 roadster.
I held one up close to my 32 and it looks like a do-able deal.
Gotta get some masking tape on the paint so it doesn't get scratched before I try to seat it into the fenderwell to check for a proper fit.
Depending on which rear tire/wheel combo I use on the 32 the A fenders may or may not get widened.C9

Thanks guys,
I have some good info now. I wish I was working with an A but I am working with a T sedan. I have the A frame and was just going to do a chopped hi-boy. Then I went to a local show and someone had a Tall 26/27 T sedan on an A frame and A fenders and it looked really good. Need less to say that my plans have changed and I am looking for A fenders and needed some information on them. It sounds like I could go with either set, basically what ever I find first.
I like the idea of the 30/31 front fenders haveing the splash apron "molded" into the fronts, it would probably look a little bit cleaner that way.
I think I will end up bobbing the rears because in proportion to the T body they would look a bit long.
Thanks again, and great looking cars you guys have (assuming the pic with your post are pics of your cars)
Thank you Roger. .
